This iconic Great Gatsby quote was doing the rounds on Twitter last week when  journalist Kirby Sommers made the link to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.  Epstein is very much a Gatsby-esque figure, living a life of show and excess that was born on lies and rat-cunning. He spent other people’s money and trampled on the young and the innocent. Ghislaine has Daisy’s careless attitude but the suspected Mossad agent instead broke people while living a life built on a bed of lies. I’m not saying the two Gatsby characters are demonic like Ghislaine and Epstein but their attitudes were similar. Epstein hid behind wealth, the law and social prestige for many years and now Ghislaine is doing the same or is dead.  There have been many accounts of Ghislaine’s charm, she had the same superficial warmth as Gatsby’s paramour. When it comes to the Epstein survivors, these now-women are forces to be reckoned with & the newest is no exception.  Dainya Nida came forward with her harrowing story this week, spurned on by the denials of justice that have been imposed on the women.  The survivors are reclaiming their own power.
